England's destructive batter Jason Roy has said he hopes to win the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) with his side Quetta Gladiators.
The Gladiators retained Roy, along with Iftikhar Ahmed, in the Diamond category during the players' retention in November 2022.
In a video shared by the Gladiators on their official Twitter handle, Jason said he was thrilled to join the Purple Force and hoped to win the title this season.
"I am so excited to join up with the Purple Force. We have been playing some good cricket in our warm-up game, and I am excited to get over there. We have got together an incredible squad," Roy said.
"Excited to be opening the batting with Martin Guptill. Hasaranga is among our ranks. Of course, there is no forgetting our local talent. We have got a very good squad, coaches, and backroom staff. Let's hope it's our year, and we can get that trophy. See you very soon, guys. Cheers!" he added.
It is worth mentioning here that despite joining the Gladiators late into the event last year, Roy was the eighth-highest run-getter for them, amassing 303 runs at an average of 50.5 in six matches.
Earlier, Guptill said he was looking forward to linking up with Roy.
"I am most excited to link up with the destructive Jason Roy. It's gonna be fun and fireworks. Pakistan, mai araha hoon [Pakistan, I am coming]," he added.
The Gladiators will kick off their PSL campaign against 2022 runners-up Multan Sultans at the Multan Cricket Stadium on February 15.
The opening ceremony of PSL 8 will be held in Multan on February 13 prior to the tournament opener between 2021 winners Multan Sultans and defending champions Lahore Qalandars; meanwhile, the closing ceremony and final will be played on March 19 in Lahore, which will also host play-offs.
Rawalpindi will stage 11 fixtures, Karachi and Lahore will host nine matches each, whereas Multan will have five home games.
